atonement

1. compensation for a wrong
2. the act of atoning for sin or wrongdoing
3. satisfaction or reparation for a wrong or injury; amends.

"This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins." {-1 John 4:10}

"He [Jesus] is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world." {-1 John 2:2}
