wow...it's been a while

sorry everyone...it's been quite a while since i last posted...sooo sorry 'bout that...life has been crazy! for some reason, teachers decided to pile on homework and tests for the past 2 weeks...strange, i know! so, what's been going on in my life lately (not that anyone actually cares or checks my blogs anymore, but oh well!)?? well, last weekend, i went to the authentic beauty conference with a bunch of my friends (and my lovely sister), and it was awesome!! the speaker was bethany needham, our counselor's name was melissa, and they both rocked!! it was bethany's first time speaking at a conference, and she did an awesome job! :) she talked about the lies we girls believe and how we need to attack them head on with scripture and disprove those lies that satan is feeding us! a couple of her favorite verses were--
pslam 45:11- "The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord." (talking about God to us!! He's enthralled with your beauty!)
psalm 139:17- "How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!" (God thinks about you all the time, and His thoughts towards you are precious!! how cool is that?!)
sooo, that's what happened last weekend....it was awesome!!
today was kinda crazy, i had a math and physics tests, and a Bible paper due! i was dictating my schedule for this week to sophie on sunday, and she was typing it into her phone (don't ask me why...), and all of it didn't fit!! that's one way to know your week is too full-- it doesn't fit in someone's phone!! :) anyways, then after i got home, i had an interview for camp (woop woop!)! mary is awesome!! hopefully i'll get to work there this summer, i'm so excited! :)
yup, so that's what's going on with me...tomorrow, my dad has surgery on his knee (please pray!) and friday we're having a group come to do skits and bekah's favorite church is coming, too, although she won't be able to see them because she's going to be flying to thailand (you can pray for her, too! i'm gonna miss her soooo much!!)

i think that's it...oh, and i put more pictures from sophie and meghan's photoshoot up on my photoblog (i finally got them all on the computer, edited, and ready to share!), so you can go check those out and let me know what you think!!
have a great rest of the week! :)

the armor of God

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." ephesians 6:10-18

those verses are awesome! :) in a note in my Bible, it points out that paul never mentions any kind of armor to protect our backs. we obviously aren't supposed to run away from the battle. notice that these verses say we have to stand 4 times. i like how it says, "...stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." we apparently aren't supposed to sit or give up, but always stand.

"Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel," (verse 19)

i would like to ask you all to pray that for me, that at school and wherever i am, that i wouldn't be ashamed of God and that i would talk about Him fearlessly. i'll be praying that for every Christian, too! :) thanks!

philippians 3:12-14

"not that i have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but i press on to take hold of that which Christ Jesus took hold of me. brothers, i do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing i do: forgetting what it behind and straining toward what is ahead, i press on toward the goal to win the prize which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

merry CHRISTmas, everyone!

hope you all have a wonderful and blessed CHRISTmas! don't forget the real reason, Jesus came down to be like and one of us, to live a perfect life and to die, just so we could have a relationship with Him and be with Him forever!
oh if y'all could pray for my family and i, we're driving to see my dad's side of the family, it's about a 8+ hour drive, so just pray for safety, patience and a great time while we're there (we're coming back saturday). thanks! :)

"The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood."
[-john 1:14; the message]

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
{not happy holidays. :P}

just be still

"Be still, and know that I am God" --Psalm 46:10

what an awesome phrase. God tells us just be still, calm down, and know that He is God. in the middle of a crazy day, where nothing seems to be going right, just be still and know that God is still there and is in control, and knows what's going on.

power and priviledge

the lake looked like a winter wonderland thursday morning (july 26). it was really cool!! :) for breakfast, there was scrambled eggs, sausages and muffins.
thursday morning, jodi did the message instead of kelsey. she talked about something she had talked about 2 years ago. i am a hose, you are a hose! :) she talked about how we all are hoses. we are either a spiritually dead hose (not connected to the power source), a spiritually just alive hose (connected to the power source, but no water flowing through), or a spiritually living hose (a connected and pumped on!). we were created to know God (knowing His love, and having it flow through you). how to get cranked on-- believe God (we have to believe God can use us), and let go and say yes to God!! it's not about us. God's love flowing through us is meant for others. get them wet!! are we spiritually dead, just alive, or alive and pumped on?? we need to reach out to others outside our comfort zone, and soak them with Jesus' love!! the verses we talked about were, john 15:15 (vine and branches, if we aren't abiding in Jesus, we can't do anything), john 5:19 (Jesus can't do anything apart from the Father), philippians 2:8 (Jesus humbled Himself and became obedient to the Father to the point of death) and hebrews 5:7-9 (Jesus is the source of eternal salvation).
for quests, we had challenge course (yeay!) and field activity again. i love the challenge course!! it was a lot of fun!! it's kinda hard to explain the game we played, but we completed it! :) for field activity, we just kinda hung out in the gym and played mafia and the winking game. it was pretty fun, but i kina wanted to play kickball...oh well! :)
we had lunch on the beach, and you could go swimming!! it was pretty cool, even though we had really warm chili and chicken....lol!
oh, thursday's chill time was awesome!! kelsey, jodi, patti, zach and a couple of other people were out on the orbit, and we watched them for the whole chill time from our way awesome porch!! it was awesome! they were doing flips and pushing people off and trying to do the moon walk. zach got almost to the end before he fell off. jodi and kelsey didn't do as well, though!! lol!! we were cheering for them and disrupting chill time!! lol! :) it was really funny!! :)
during free time, i did archery, made a duct tape flower for my secret sister and kinda walked around! lol! :)
after dinner (which was grilled cheese, really good!), we had staff vs camper games!! it was soooooooo much fun!!!! they had volley ball, soccer and another game. guess which one i played...hmm hard one there. lol!! :) it was sooo much fun!! :) there were something like 50 campers against 20 staff. the soccer field was waaayyy too crowded!! oh well, it was fun. did you know that dex and zach are really tall?? i noticed that for the first time when we played against them. the campers lost, something like 3-0, but it was fun!! :) one time, dan was going to kick the ball (like a hard kick not a pass), and i stuck my foot in front of the ball, and he kicked it really hard, and my leg had the imprint of a soccer ball on it for most of the night!! that was pretty cool! (according to ashlee, i have built in shin pads) one girl told me she thinks i'm gonna go pro. she said it would be cool that she could say she went to camp with someone who went pro!! :) i was really amazed by that!! i was just like, uumm, thanks!? lol! so, yea, the soccer game was really fun!! and certain people didn't play, they just watched and used their cameras because a certain person was playing for staff. :P
chapel was awesome! :) at the beginning, we played a game called "prove it!". way fun! jodi said something, and if you though you could do it, and if you were chosen, you went on stage and proved it! john d (he's on staff) said he could do the verse with all the motions, so he "proved it!" it was absolutely hilarious!! :) pictures below! :D
we sang "all in all" and it was soo pretty. the last chorus we did with just voices and it was amazing. staff was there for that chapel, and you could hear all the girls' voices, and the men's voices in the back. it was just so cool!!
the reason why we played "prove it!" was to go with the lesson. how do we prove our love for Jesus?? by loving God and loving others! (john 13:34-35, john 14:15 and ephesians 5:1-2) jodi talked about peter, and how he was always trying to prove his love for Jesus by what he did. but he was missing one thing, his love for others. we prove our love for God by loving others. we need to love each other so that other people want Jesus' love when they see us. God Almighty's my Daddy!! :) this was her challenge: let's love God and others so much that the world doesn't know what hit it!! she asked us what would happen if 200 blasting fire hoses were lined up shoulder to shoulder?? there would be a FLOOD!!
here are pictures-

so that you may LIVE!!

bound and broken [bound in sin]

this was moday (july 23rd). i woke up at 4:15 this morning. the sun rise was absolutely amazing!! once you see the pictures, you cannot doubt that God is an artist! you have not seen a sunrise until you see one at the lake! :) so, monday i started bright and early! breakfast was pancakes! yummy! :) after breakfast we had morning chapel, where kelsey did the message. it was about being bound and broken by sin. How we're born into sin, and the sin limits us. Before we can see all that God has for us, we have to choose life and be freed from sin. We need to realize that we need a savior/superhero. We can't do anything to free ourselves from sin by ourselves. Kelsey always did an illustration for her lessons. monday, she duct-taped a girl to a chair for the whole time. at the end she ate chocolate in front of her, and the girl couldn't have it because she was taped to the chair. basically, the chocolate was all God has for us, and since we're 'tied to a chair' by sin, we can't get it on our own, we need someone else to help us (a.k.a. Jesus!). the verses we talked about were John 8:34 (slaves to sin) and Genesis 2:25, 3:13.
For quest time, we had riflery and archery (archery ROCKS!!)!! rilfery was pretty fun, it was jaina's first time, and i think she had fun!! archery was awesome! i love it! :) after quest time, there's lunch (which was chicken patties), and then chill time, which is basically a rest time. then there's free time, where you can do almost anything you want!! :) i did archery with meghan and taught some people how to make hemp jewelry at the craft shack!! :) after free time is dinner (which was pasta! yum!), and then chapel. maryann is a hair dresser, so for chapel, everyone had crazy hair!! it was insane!! i didn't want to get mine done, but i was forced! ;) maryann did a braid that went all the way around my head. supposedly, i looked "like a princess", but i'm not so sure!! :) so, for chapel, everyone had crazy hair!!
For chapel, jodi talked about eternal life. when she went around and asked what the girls thought it was, most people answered that it was living with God forever in heaven. jodi told us that she had thought it was like a plane ticket, you get it when you're saved and you keep it until you die, and then it's your ticket into heaven and life forever with God. But then she told us what God had been showing her about it. She asked us if it's only a ticket, then what about today?? then she shared John 17:3 with us- "this is Eternal Life, that they" (that's you and me!) "may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." so according to that verse, eternal life is knowing God!! she compared it to a guy proposing and marriage. the ring is the price (a.k.a. Jesus' death), and kneeling is humbling. the guy (and Jesus) are saying "do you want the ring??", they're saying "do you want me??" John 1:10-12 "He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him..." we said no to Jesus. He paid the price for us, even though we didn't/don't want Him. Everyday we need to choose to love Jesus (like how in marriage, you don't just say "i love you" once and that's it, you need to choose to love your spouse everyday!). We need to choose to be about Jesus everyday. We need to get to know Jesus. John 17:3-- eternal life is knowing God! to know is to experience. if we are experiencing Jesus, others will notice!
after chapel, we played a game where "mr. bad guy" and his villains hid around the camp in black clothes and the campers had to go and find them and bring them back to the gym. and your team got points for every bad guy you got! the justice leuge got most of the bad guys and they also rescued granny (mr. bad guy had kidnapped her!!). if your team caught mr. bad guy, you got 500,000 point for your team!! so, we were kinda sad, because the justice league caught most of the bad guys and they had rescued granny!! we were sure we had lost...until they announced who had caught mr. bad guy! and it was us!! so we actually ended up winning!! :) and they said it was the first camp session where they had caught both mr. bad guy and rescued granny!! go girls!! :)
here are the pictures--

the sunrise (if you know me, you know i have a lot more than just these! ;) these are only a few!)
jaina and rachel doing riflery
archery
our cabin (gotta love self timer and a fence! ;))
crazy hair!!
meghan's movie star hair and pose
chapel
also during chapel, john d, abby, anoli and andy did a really funny thing where they'd read a 'true story' then they would act it out in a really funny way! it was crazy!
that's it!! for now at least.... :)

the right to remain silent

everyone has the right to remain silent, but that doesn't mean that you should. ~*~ Ezekiel 24:27 "At that time your mouth will be opened; you will speak with him and will no longer be silent. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD."

i got that from Sophie. i hope you don't mind me using it!! :)

psalms 18:1-3

"I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies."

song of solomon 8:4

'daughters of jerusalem, i charge you: do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.'

an important thing for young people/teens to remember in this day and age, when every one's dating everyone else, and they break up every other week, and not too many relationships are really real. we need to remember as Christians not to arouse or awaken love until it so desires.

O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer."

James 1:1-5

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."

habakkuk 2:3

“But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! He will not be overdue a single day!” (the living Bible)

300th POST!!

300!!
this is my 300th post!! i can't believe i've posted that many time!!! here's one of my favorite chapters in the Bible--

Isaiah 53

"Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.

But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.

By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
And who can speak of his descendants?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was stricken.

He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.

Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.

After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.

Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors."

philippians 1:6

"being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

matthew 5:8

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."

2 timothy 4:2-4

"preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. for the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."

i think that time is right now...

1 corinthians 15:58

"therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. let nothing move you. always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

please, please, please, my dear brothers and sister, please let NOTHING move you!! there are so many things in this crazy world we live in that can pull us away from our stand for Christ and our faith, but we are called to stand firm!! always, in everything, give yourselves all to God, He knows just what you need, and He cares for you more than you can imagine!!
