'06 Intertown Spring Tournament

Last Saturday (June 17th), the Clash played in the Intertown Spring Tournament. The way it worked was that every team that participated was garented to play at least 2 games. If you won both of the games, then you went on to play in the championship game. If you won that game, than your team was the champ!!
Weeeelllllll......the first game that we played was at 8:30am on Saturday. We had to play our own town (how crazy is that??!!). Well, there wasn't anything terribly exciting about that game. The score was 7-0, and we won. And I forgot to mention that we only had one sub for this game, and then she left, so we didn't have any subs for the next games (keep this in mind). One down, one more to go (then again, maybe two more to go...who knows??!).
The second game that we played was at 10:30pm. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that we were playing 20 minute halfs, because it was a tournament, and that it was terribly hot out. But anyways, we played against T (they had won their first game, too). It was the hardest game of the season (on my opinion). The T team was very physical. And I mean VERY. They were pushing and shoving and pulling, etc. And the strange thing was that the referee just watched it all and didn't do anything about it (the ref looked like he was about 15-17 years old. And he wasn't calling anything, except for when the ball went out of bounds.)!! Shelby got hurt, and had to get pulled out of the game, so, it was 7 on 8 for a little while. Dad had to pull Shelby out for a few minutes later in the game because she was going to get hurt or hurt someone else the was that the other team was playing. Another one of the girls on our team, Katy, was so upset at the way that the other team was playing that she almost cryed quite a few times. It was a hard game not only because of the other team's attitude and the referee, but also because it was such a tiny field. The goals were about 5 feet tall at most. I'm saying that they were tiny! Anyways, our first goal was off of a corner kick. I don't remember who scored it, but it was quite early in the game, and it was great!! The corner kick was kicked, and somehow it got to one of players who was in front of the goal, and they kicked it on the ground right past the goalie!! We were all totally excited!! It was great!! Ashlee got the second goal. She kicked it high, and it sloped right over the goalie's head and into the goal!! It looked awesome!! T scored in the second half, but we kept the off to win 2-1!! I also forgot to mention that the all of the teams that we played had more than double the amount of players that were on the field. In other words, they had a lot more players that we did. So now, we had won the first two games, and now...drum roll please...we were going on to the championship game!!!
For the championship game, we had to wait for the last U-13 girls game to finish, so that we could figure out who was playing, and then we had to wait even longer to wait for a field to open up. We finally ended up playing C 1 (if you have been keeping up with my other posts about our games, you will remember that we already played them twice in the regular season). It was an interesting game, not as physical as the first game, but not as easy as the first game. As you will most likely remember, be tied with them the first time that we played them, and then be beat them the second time that we played them. Well, at the end of the second half, we were leading 2-0 (I got a goal in the first half. I had played Center Defense for the first two games, and for the first half of this game I played midfield, and for the second half of this game, I played Center Defense again.). For the second half, both of us scored a goal. They scored the goal on Dani (the T team scored on Ashlee. Both of the goals hit the post and then went in, so they (Ashlee and Dani) didn't have too great of a chance of blocking them.). So yea, we won 3-1!!! GO CLASH!! We were the 2006 Intertown Spring tournament U-13 Girls Champions!! I think that we all had a great time, even though we were all tired an sweaty by the end of the game!! Here is a picture of the tournament Champs team-Well, that's the end of the Spring soccer season for the undefeated Clash!! Our record was 8-0-2!! Next season, most of the players (including me) will be moving up to a U-14 (under 14) travel team, so stay tuned!! 'Till next season, now and always, GO CLASH!!!P.S.
